Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) welcomed Dr. William Porter, to our medical staff in the Otolaryngology/Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) department in 2014.
Dr. Porter received his Medical Degree at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and completed post-graduate training at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO with an Internship in General Surgery and a Residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.
Porter was on staff at the Fargo Clinic (MeritCare) from 1988 to 1993 and has been in private practice in Fargo until coming to Fergus Falls. Porter says his decision to join Lake Region Healthcare after 20+ years in private practice was all about timing. “I was very interested in coming to Fergus Falls after finishing my residency in 1988, but there were no opportunities here at that time,” he said. With a family lake cabin nearby, this area has always been a favorite location. “The opportunity to join LRH at this time allows me to be closer to the lake and to join a wonderful medical community where there is tremendous camaraderie & collegiality. I can also have a much broader practice here and see a wider variety of patients from young to old and simple to complex. I am very excited to be here,” he added.
Dr. Porter is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and a Member of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations and the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons.
He and his wife Laura have been married for over 30 years and have three grown children. His professional interests include Nasal and Sinus Issues, Pediatric ENT, Balloon Sinuplasty and Coblation Tonsillectomy. In his spare time he enjoys reading, jogging, tennis and spending time with his family.
