Dr. Susan Meland joined the Lake Region Healthcare Medical Staff in 2009.
A graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing, Fargo, ND, Dr. Meland began her healthcare career as a psychiatric nurse. She graduated with a degree in philosophy from Moorhead State University and completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of North Dakota.
Dr. Meland completed a psychiatric residency at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and served a year as administrative chief resident. She came to Lake Region Healthcare from Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN where she worked as medical director of the mental health unit.
Dr. Meland is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Minnesota Psychiatric Association. Her professional interests include women's psychiatric issues associated with the reproductive cycle, and working with individuals with developmentatal disabilities.
Dr. Meland and her husband Jeff have one son.
