Dr. JoEllen Kohlman-Petrick, Cardiologist, joined the LRH Medical Staff in 2015.
She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Iowa State University. She completed an internal medicine residency and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota as well as a General Cardiology Fellowship at Saint Louis University.
Most recently, Dr. Kohlman-Petrick worked as an Interventional Cardiologist at Sanford Health in Fargo and maintained visiting physician hours at Lake Region Healthcare. “We are pleased to expand our service to offer patients a full time cardiologist right here in Fergus Falls,” said Larry Schulz, CEO. “It is a recurring request from our community to offer more cardiology services here and the need has been confirmed by our Medical Staff Development Plan. We are happy Dr. Kohlman-Petrick has come on board full time to fill this need,” he added.
Dr. Kohlman-Petrick is ABIM Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
When asked why she chose to join LRH, Kohlman-Petrick said, “I wanted to practice in a small, family friendly community where I could focus on both my career and raising my children.” Her professional interests are focusing on helping people make positive lifestyle changes such as improving their diet and starting an exercise program to help prevent further heart conditions. In her spare time, Dr. Kohlman-Petrick is an avid runner/triathlete and a volunteer with Girls on the Run.
