"Eating to Support Good Health" Topic of January Living Well Education Series

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) – Culinarian, Lynn Remsberg and Dietitian, Kristy Norenberg, both of Lake Region Healthcare Nutrition Services, will be the featured speakers at Lake Region Healthcare’s (LRH) Living Well Education Series January session scheduled for Monday, January 16th at 5:30pm.

Their presentation, “Invest in Yourself – Eating to Support Good Health,” will discuss the concept of looking at high quality, nutritious food as an investment in one’s self, rather than as an expense. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 117 million Americans have one or more preventable chronic diseases, many of which are related to poor quality eating patterns and physical inactivity. The costs for some chronic diseases are estimated at $245 billion, which includes $176 billion in direct medical costs and $69 billion in decreased productivity.

A tasty meal that demonstrates the concepts being discussed will also be provided.

The Living Well educational forums are held the third Monday of each month at 5:30pm from September through May. Natalie Knutson, Director of Wellness at LRH says the education series is designed to offer a broad range of information on health related topics to address all seven components of Wellness.

The January session will be held on Monday, January 16th from 5:30 to 7pm in the new Main Clinic Lobby at 111 West Vernon Ave. in Fergus Falls.

All Living Well sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is requested to plan for refreshments. Call 218.736.8699 or email livingwell@lrhc.org for information or to register.

Individual session topics and details for future Living Well sessions are available on the “Education & Events” link at www.lrhc.org.
