Advance Care Planning Topic of April Cancer Center Education Series

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) The Cancer Care & Research Center invites you to join this month’s education series on Monday, April 11th to discuss the benefits of Advance Care Planning.

“The process of Advanced Care Planning can be a gift to you, your family, and your medical team,” according to Deb Forstner, Chaplain at LRH.   “It involves conversations about what treatment options you would want in the event you were unable to speak for yourself and can bring so much peace of mind to everyone involved during stressful or unexpected health circumstances,” she added.

Lake Region Healthcare has adopted a Health Care Directive form based upon suggestions from the organization Honoring Choices Minnesota. Monday’s session will discuss the steps for completion of this form. Handouts will be provided which address some of the choices and clarification will be given regarding where the form/s need to go to best assure that the expressed wishes are followed.

The session begins Noon on Monday, April 11th.  Lunch will be served beginning at 11:45.  Please call 218-736-8688 for more information.  Guests are encouraged to call if they plan to attend, however it is not necessary.  The Cancer Care & Research Center is located at 908 South Cascade Street S. Fergus Falls MN.

Individual session topics and details for future sessions in the Education Series dates (always the 2nd Monday of the month) are available on the “Education & Events” link at www.lrhc.org.   There is also a regular Advance Care Planning Informational session the second Wednesday of every month at the Cancer Care & Research Center for anyone interested in learning more or stopping in for a Notary to sign their Healthcare Directive.
