Students pursuing medical careers eligible to apply for $5,000 scholarships
(FERGUS FALLS, MN) Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) Foundation is currently seeking applications for its scholarship program to help students pursuing medical careers. Undergraduate or graduate students who are in at least the second year of a medical career program are eligible to apply for one of two five-thousand dollar scholarships the Foundation will present later this spring.
“We are always looking for ways to bring highly skilled medical professionals ‘back home’ to practice medicine in our community,” said Foundation President, Larry Dorn. “The Foundation hopes that offering these scholarships will be an impactful way to achieve this goal,” he added. Last year’s winners were Joel Money and Susan Berg.
Applicants must have had permanent residence in the Lake Region Healthcare service area (approximately 45 mile radius of any Lake Region Healthcare facility), and be at least a second year full-time student pursuing a medical career at an accredited institution of learning.
The application includes both a written and video portion asking the student to explain why they should be selected and how they hope to impact the lives of others with the education & knowledge acquired in medical training. Application deadline is midnight on May 1, 2017 and winners will be announced in June.
The “Friends of LRH” (previously known as the LRH Auxiliary) is also offering several $1,000 scholarships for high school graduates pursuing health care related careers with a deadline of April 7th.
