LRH to Offer Monthly“Living Well” Education Series
T. Zetocha & Dr. Magnuson

Kids & Concussions Topic of September 19th Session with Taylor Zatocha and Dr. Al Magnuson

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) – Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) will offer a new educational series to the community called “Living Well.” According to Wellness Director at LRH, Natalie Knutson, the series is designed to offer a broad range of information on health related topics to address all seven components of Wellness.

“Each month will feature a different topic with a goal of addressing as many facets and layers of the seven components of wellness as possible,” Knutson said. “Our goal is to have a patient/community perspective followed up by a clinical or medical perspective from an LRH topic expert,” she added.

The first session will focus on the topic and Kids and Concussions and will feature student athlete, Taylor Zetocha and LRH Pediatrician, Dr. Al Magnuson. Zetocha is a Fargo Davie’s student whose first concussion seemed like little more than a bump on the head. But by the time she suffered her third and fourth concussions, all on the basketball court, she could no longer shrug off the effects. She will speak at the Living Well session to share her struggle as an example of the serious problems concussion patients face, and a reminder that football players aren't the only athletes who must be aware of the risk.

Dr. Al Magnuson, Pediatrician at LRH will offer a medical perspective on concussion management, prevention and treatments. He will discuss the benefits of baseline testing, return to play protocol challenges and answer audience questions about concussions.

The Living Well educational forums will be held the third Monday of each month at 5:30pm from September through May. The September session will be held on Monday, September 19th from 5:30 to 7pm in the new Main Clinic Lobby at 111 West Vernon Ave. in Fergus Falls and is made possible in part by sponsorship from Ringdahl Ambulance in Fergus Falls.

All Living Well sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is requested to plan for refreshments. Call 218.736.8699 or email livingwell@lrhc.org for information or to register.

Individual session topics and details for future Living Well sessions are available on the “Education & Events” link at www.lrhc.org.
