64 hours per pay period position available with the Women's and Children's Health Center and Medical/Surgical department. Day/Night shifts - mostly Nights.
The purpose of this position is to provide nursing care to patients. The framework for practice will be the nursing process in order to prescribe, delegate and coordinate nursing care. The RN has contact with patients, patient families and visitors, LRH employees, referral agencies, volunteers, administration, and physicians. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position. The RN must be able to supervise patient care, secure cooperation from others, problem-solve, and exercise initiative and judgement.
To perform in this position requires the incumbent to be a graduate of a school of nursing with current licensure in Minnesota. 6 months medical/surgical experience preferred; obstetric/nursery and pediatric experience preferred. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with physicians. Demonstrates ability to function independently in critical situations. Demonstrates initiative to independently expand perinatal knowledge base. NRP certification is required for this position within six months. This position also requires current Healthcare Provider level CPR certification upon hire or must be obtained within 6 months.The most qualified applicant will be given prime consideration. Must be able to provide direct care of antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients; direct care of low and high risk newborns; direct care of medical and surgical patients. Supervision of LPNs, CNAs and UCs.
