16 hours per two-week pay period available within the Quality and Medical Staff Services department. Day shifts.The purpose of this position is to assure infection control measures are practiced in order to protect patients, residents, healthcare workers and visitors.This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and Medical Staff Services. The Infection Preventionist has contact with patients, hospital employees, volunteers, community personnel, administration, trainees, and physicians. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position. The incumbent maintains established work procedures and priorities within required deadlines. The Infection Preventionist will be responsible for the surveillance, consultation, education, policies and procedures, and the recording and reporting of information concerning infection control.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing with current RN licensure in the state of Minnesota. Five years experience hospital nursing required. Prefer nurses with prior infections and communicable disease experience. Prefer certification in Infection Control. This position requires current Healthcare Provider level CPR certification upon hire or must be obtained within 6 months.Ability to analyze infection control and epidemiological data; plan, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control measures; develop infection control policies and procedures; investigate suspected outbreaks of infection; and consults on infection risk, control strategies, and quality improvement.
