80 hours per two-week pay period available with the Health Information Management department. Day shifts. This position is responsible for the release of confidential medical records to patients, outside facilities and other individuals on an as needed basis. The ROI Specialist is responsible for following Joint Commission guidelines along with the State of Minnesota guidelines for the release of medical records. The ROI Specialist can evaluate a request for records based on HIPAA complaint requirements. This position is responsible for logging all requests in a ROI tracking system.This position reports directly to the Health information Coordinator. The Release of information specialist has contact with hospital employees, clinic employees, physicians, providers, patients, and outside facilities. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position. The incumbent has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences. The incumbent establishes the work procedures and priorities within imposed deadlines.
Prefer high school or equivalent level of education. Basic keyboard/typing skills. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability. Demonstrate ability to communicate proficient and professionally both orally and in writing, and ability to operate computer equipment.
