Changes in Nursing Model Allow for All Private Rooms at LRH

[April 16, 2012– Fergus Falls, MN] – In response to patient and caregiver feedback, Lake Region Healthcare has moved to a new staffing model for nurses on their Medical/Surgical floors. The new model increases the number of RN’s providing patient care to allow for a higher level of patient care. In addition, expansion of the number of medical/surgical rooms allows for the option of private rooms for our patients.

“The acuity and intensity of patient needs, coupled with the decreasing length of patient stays, drives the need for this shift in our staffing model,” according to Senior Vice President of Nursing, Lucia Anderson.  “We take patient care and patient satisfaction very seriously and are constantly striving to improve. We are confident this will further align our services with the organizational goals and vision of becoming Minnesota’s preeminent regional healthcare partner,” she added.

The new model has been in effect for over a month and like all systems at Lake Region Healthcare, it will continue to be evaluated for effectiveness and opportunities for further improvement to best serve the needs of patients and their families.
