Beam Topping Marks Milestone in LRH Clinic Construction Project

Project remains on budget & on time for late 2015 move-in

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) paused briefly to mark the end of the steel construction phase of their new clinic building in Fergus Falls on Friday. The “topping off” happened at 12:30pm when the last steel beam, covered in hundreds of LRH staff and provider signatures, was connected to the crane by clinic medical staff and then hoisted to its final resting place in the northwest stair tower of the new clinic.

The final beam had been inside the clinic for several weeks prior to the beam topping event to allow LRH staff members and providers to sign their names on the beam as a way to leave their mark on the new building. Staff and Board members gathered outside the clinic and in conference rooms that broadcast the construction-cam view of the event.

“We’re very excited to be at this point in the project and still be able to say we’re on time and on budget,” said CEO Larry Schulz. “The construction crews have been fantastic about remaining diligent and adjusting tasks throughout the bitter cold of the winter,” he added. The lack of snow also contributed to the efficiency and timeliness.

Move-in to the new clinic is expected to happen in late 2015. Demolition of the old clinic would then follow in the spring of 2016 with final completion of the project slated for June 2016.
