<Fergus Falls, MN > — Lake Region Healthcare recently recognized orthopedic surgeon Dr. E. Alan Williams on his retirement after 28 years of service to this community.
Dr. Williams was born in Manchester England and studied at Manchester University Medical School, graduating in 1972. His internship was done at Davyhulme, Manchester where he graduated as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Dr. Williams then accepted a Research Fellow in Orthopaedics at the Mayor Clinic with Dr. Patrick Kelly where they explored bone aging and fracture healing. He joined the Fergus Falls Medical Group in 1984.
Physicians and providers of Lake Region Medical Group held a retirement party for Dr. Williams and his wife Beth in February. Dr. James Andrews served as emcee. Dr. George Mathison spoke of the 25 years they worked together as orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Jason Glynn shared how seeing Dr. Williams performing an operation on an ankle back in his formative years influenced his choice of occupation and how much he appreciated Dr. Williams’ mentorship the past two years as a new orthopedic surgeon at LRH.
A reception was also held in the LRH café, giving staff and the public a chance to say thank you and good luck to him.
“I have had such a pleasant life in Fergus Falls and for that I am truly thankful,” said Dr. Williams of his 28 years here. Upon retirement Dr. Williams plans to become a “hired hand” – helping his wife’s son-in-law on the farm in Elbow Lake.
