Cancer Center Educational Series Back for a 2nd Season

First Session Scheduled for September 14th

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) – Lake Region Healthcare’s Cancer Care & Research Center (LRH CCRC) will once again offer a monthly education series for patients and families with cancer. The educational series is designed to help people understand the disease, treatment, side effect management and provide other information to improve quality of life during treatment & beyond.

“Cancer patients and families have a variety of information/educational needs throughout their cancer journey regarding anything from diagnosis, to treatment to support services,” said Jamie Nordick, Director at the Cancer Center. “This series is one way we can empower patients & families by answering questions and arming them with knowledge to ease their anxieties,” she added.

The educational forums will be held the second Monday of each month in the Cancer Care & Research Center Conference Room.  Knowledgeable professionals will be presenting on such topics as trends in cancer treatment and research, financial resources, survivorship, preplanning, healthcare directives, community resources, wellness, nutrition, and much more.

The series will begin on Monday, September 14th with an introduction to the series and a presentation on Trends in Cancer Care & Research. This session will be presented by LRH Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Margaret Barnes. Her discussion will look at the new information and technology, and the current trends in cancer medicine.

All sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is requested to plan for refreshments. Please call 218.736.8688 for information or to register.
