Otter Basketball Teams Set Dates for “Shootin for a Cure”

Boys vs. Alex on Jan. 29th and Girls vs. Willmar on Feb. 5thto promote Cancer prevention & awareness

[January 26, 2015 Falls, MN] ~ The Fergus Falls Otters Boys and Girls Basketball teams will be “Shootin’ for a Cure” when they host two upcoming games scheduled for their Cancer Awareness nights.

The Otter Boys will host Alexandria on Thursday, January 29th in their Shootin For a Cure match-up, while the Otter Girls will host Willmar on Thursday, February 5th for the awareness event.

Several fundraising and awareness events are planned for both night including gift baskets donated by area businesses. There will also be opportunities to sponsor a player or a team member by donating money for each point scored that night to the Cancer Center. You can buy those sponsorships at the game or talk to your favorite player any time before the games. At the conclusion of the girls basketball game on the 5th, three of the team's players will be raffling off the chance to hold the scissors and cut off their hair so they can donate it to Locks of Love.

New this year, everyone is encouraged to wear purple to the games since lavender is the awareness color representing all cancers as a show of support for the local fight against all forms of cancer. Heathered Purple t-shirts with the popular “Keep Calm and Shoot for a Cure” saying will also be sold at the event.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Lake Region Healthcare Cancer Care and Research Center in Fergus Falls.
