Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) is pleased to welcome Dr. Angela Folstad, Pediatrician, to our medical staff.
Dr. Folstad received her Doctorate of Medicine in 1995 from the University of Minnesota Medical School and her undergraduate degree from Drury College in Springfield, MO. She completed her Internship and Residency at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and also served as General Medical officer at Pt. Hueneme, CA.
Her professional experience includes serving as a Pediatrician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, with Pediatric Associates in Reston, VA and at Waldorf Family Meical Center in Waldorf, MD. Most recently she has practiced at the Spearfish Regional Medical Clinic in Spearfish, SD.
Dr. Folstad is a Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics; Diplomat, National Board of Medical Examiners; and Diplomat, American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Folstad and her husband are both originally from the Breckenridge/Wahpeton area after living in various regions of the U.S. felt a strong desire to return “home.” “It is rare to find a state of the art medical facility in a rural setting and I believe I have found a secret treasure at LRH,” Folstad said. “I am impressed with their unique ability to deliver the highest standard of care in a compassionate, considerate manner and I’m excited and honored to be joining the LRH team,” she added.
Professional interests include preventive medicine, sports medicine and behavioral health while her personal interests include running, hiking, kayaking, yoga, biking, golf and geocaching. She and her husband, Chris Samek have a son Fletcher who is looking forward to starting his freshman year as a Fergus Falls Otter.
