Dalton native serving as hospitalist now, will open clinic practice in 2015
(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) – Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) is pleased to welcome Dr. Joshua Overgaard, to our medical staff in the Internal Medicine department. He will be serving as a hospitalist beginning in 2014 and starting his practice in the Internal Medicine department of the clinic later in 2015.
Dr. Overgaard received his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his undergraduate work at Bemidji State University where he received his B.S. in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry. He also received his A.A. from the Fergus Falls Community College
Overgaard was in the Rural Physician’s Associate program where he gained experience in Family Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics and Emergency Medicine in Cloquet, MN. He also served as chief resident at Abbott Northwestern from July 2013 to July 2014. Among his professional interests are spending time cultivating skills in ultrasonography to be used at the bedside.
A native of Dalton, MN Overgaard says LRH is the place he wants to practice not only because he’s from the area, but also because he really likes the community and feels greatly indebted for all the support he has received from the people here. Dr. Overgaard says he especially looks forward to practicing in a rural setting because of the connection to the community, something not always afforded in an urban setting.
Overgaard is married to Shauna and they have two amazing daughters. He enjoys his family, the outdoors, and exercise/fitness.
