Lake Region Healthcare Prepares for Groundbreaking on Construction of New Clinic

Road Closures, Demolition to begin in early September

(FERGUS FALLS, Minn.) – The much anticipated construction of a new main clinic at Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) is on track to begin next month.  The three-story clinic building will house all of the current clinic providers and specialties when it opens in 2016. Same Day Surgical Services will also move from the hospital to the new Clinic building.

On Monday, August 18th signs will be placed at the intersections of Mill & Alcott and Mill & Vernon announcing that Mill Street will be closed from Alcott to Vernon Avenue beginning on September 2nd. These signs will be updated to “Road Closed” signs when the actual closures occur on September 2nd.  Similar signage will be posted at the intersection of Vasa and Mill as this intersection will become a cul-de-sac.

Activity on the construction site will begin the following week with staking, temporary fencing and general site prep occurring between August 27th and 29th. The streets and parking lots will remain open during this prep time.

LRH will be moving staff who currently work in the white house east of the clinic building starting September 1st. The staff will be relocating to the former Lakeland Mental Health Building on the east side of the campus at the corner of Cascade & Alcott. This building will become a centralized location for customers to access all business office, patient financial and medical record requests starting in mid-September.

A private groundbreaking ceremony will be held for staff, media and project partners on September 4th. Demolition of the white house and former Fresenius buildings will begin along with excavation for the new building on September 16th.

“This project will provide up-to-date health care facilities & resources to help people in our community improve their health. After years of planning we are extremely excited to finally reach the construction phase,” said President & CEO, Larry Schulz. “The participation, input and cooperation from our staff, physicians, board, neighbors, city leaders and project planners has been nothing short of fabulous and we know it will result in a welcoming, accessible, state-of-the-art facility,” he added.

The $30 million dollar project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2016. Demolition of the current clinic will occur once the new clinic is open. Temporary parking and alternate access points may be needed throughout the project and will be communicated to the public through the media and on the company’s website at www.lrhc.org.
