Description: 

This Benefits Coordinator position exists to provide responsive service to employees and internal departments while managing all benefits related eligibility processing. Duties include but are not limited to planning, implementing, educating, and coordinating benefit changes concurrently updating information and changes into multiple systems; reviewing, and verifying insurance/billings on a monthly basis; and providing responsive employee service. This position performs in both union and non union environments and does so in concert with benefit policies and applicable laws and regulations. The Benefits Coordinator has access to confidential information and employee must be able to maintain those confidences.

Associates degree in business or related benefits field required; bachelor’s degree preferred. 2 to 4 years in benefits or related benefits administration required. Experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint required and other applicable database programs desired. Ability to create and present a benefit related in-service. Preferred knowledge of company policies/procedures & benefit package or the ability & willingness to learn. Must possess knowledge in government benefit laws & regulations, organizational contracts and agreements, vendor benefits & enrollment processes, and database management. Math skills must include: ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, present, design and interpret charts and graphs to communicate business issues. Must possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written (i.e. When carrying out detailed written and/or verbal instructions). Ability to solve problems that may involve concrete variables in standardized situations (i.e. define the problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions). Must display strong customer service skills (i.e. effectively communicating with people in potentially stressful situations). Temperament must be flexible with the ability to cope with change. Must display strong organizational skills and possess ability to multi-task (i.e. consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines under tight supervision). Must be able to work independently as required.
