Description:  The purpose of this position is to promote optimal drug therapy and to provide drug information. This position reports directly to the Pharmacy Director. This position has contact with LRH employees, prospective employees, volunteers, administration, students, community personnel, clinic personnel, physicians, neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position. This position has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences. This position must follow policies, procedures, guidelines, priorities, and standards as required by LRH policy, state, and federal legislation, professional standards and adhere to the JC standards. Able to furnish information concerning medications to physicians, nurses, and other corporation and/or medical personnel. Must be able to supervise Pharmacy Technicians, ASHP PGY1 residents, and pharmacy students. Upon completion of probation period, this position must be able to perform certain responsibilities with competency (accurately and time efficiently).

To perform in this position requires a current Minnesota license as a Pharmacist and having obtained a Pharm D. Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy. Residency-training (PGY1) with significant clinical training and leadership component OR experience equivalent, experience in performing and billing MTM, experience in working with Pharm D. students. Knowledge of all aspects regarding drug dispensing, specialized functions of the LRH Pharmacy and record keeping requirements. Ability to follow oral and written instructions are required. Ability to operate a computer and use and evaluate software programs. Any unique practice skills or certifications are considered great assets- e.g. diabetes, anticoagulation, asthma, COPD, geriatrics certifications or traineeships, etc.  Proficient with Medication Therapy Management (MTM).  ASHP PGY1 residency training or clinical equivalent.  Must be able to attend the work site per schedule, administration request, and emergencies as they arise.  Must be able to take call as requested.
