The Staff Chaplain works with the Chaplaincy Services Director to provide chaplaincy care and services for patients, their loved ones, and staff. Reports to the Chaplaincy Services Director. Communicates and provides liaison with faith communities within the service area and coordinates Advanced Care Planning initiatives with community and regional resources and agencies. The Staff Chaplain works regular, daytime business hours, M-F, but is subject to being called back in for emergencies according to LRH Emergency Management Plan.
This position requires a Masters of Divinity or equivalent advanced degree in pastoral studies and theology, with a minimum of 4 units completed of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and ecclesiastical endorsement with board certification or eligibility for certification with completion in 2 years. Requires training and experience in Advance Care Planning; certification in "respecting Choices First Steps Advance Care Planning" preferred. Knowledge and training in Stephen Ministries preferred. Demonstrated theological, emotional, and psychological understanding and application of chaplaincy, liturgical worship, professional ethics, and pastoral counseling role in a healthcare setting. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with area clergy.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, medical staff, patients and families, and proven ability to effectively build and foster relationships.
Ability to meet unique needs of specific nursing and clinical units. Understand the physician/patient relationship and its legal and ethical implications. Prepare statistical reports on service and care provided. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and computer skills, are essential.
