The purpose of the phlebotomist position is to obtain specimens from patients of all ages with care and concern for patient’s welfare and safety. Assist the laboratory in preparing specimens for analysis and perform various clerical duties of the laboratory under direct supervision.
Degree from a Phlebotomy program which includes an appropriate internship under the direction of a pathologist in an approved laboratory or previous experience or education in a health related field. Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to operate laboratory equipment, such as centrifuge, microscope and computer keyboard/word processor equipment. Ability to follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures and train for new procedures as needed. Must satisfactorily complete on-the-job training/orientation.
