The Dietary Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the Dietary Department to provide dietetic services to patients, hospital employees, and guests. Establishes policies, procedures, and develops standards for organization and supervision. Plans menus, inspects work areas and meal service. Prepares the departmental budget, monitors and controls cost, and attends department head meetings. The Dietary Manager has contact with patients, department directors, PRHHS’s employees, patient families, and the public.
The Dietary Manager must have a Certified Dietary Certificate. Bachelors or advanced degree with major in Food Service Administration preferred, but not required. The Dietary Manager must be either an employee on staff or under contract, who has been granted the authority and delegated responsibility by the CEO. This authority and delegated responsibility includes the daily management of the service, implementing training programs for dietary staff, and assuring that established policies and procedures are maintained. Effective interpersonal, communication and educational skills are essential to this position.
