Description:

The purpose of this position is to accurately perform all clerical duties pertinent to the Radiology Department. A variety of clerical procedures must be performed that will require independent judgement so employee must act with accuracy and a great deal of diplomacy and tact. Assumes responsibilities for record keeping, appointments, transcription, and all incoming telephone correspondence.
This position reports directly to the Office Coordinator and/or Radiology Director and in cooperation with the Radiologist. The Medical Transcriptionist has direct and indirect (telephone) contact with patients, LRH employees, volunteers, physicians, visitors, families, outside organizations, other hospitals and clinics. This position has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences. The employee must be able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
To perform in this position satisfactorily requires a high school diploma or equivalent level of education, medical secretary education, and medical terminology. Computer and dictation knowledge is necessary. Telephone skills, accuracy in spelling, and general clerical skills are essential.
